Students begin to hit ‘iron gate’

Damak: At least 1850 grade 10 students of seven refugee camps in Jhapa and Morang districts of Nepal have begun writing their School Leaving Certificate (SLC), also called as ‘iron gate’ examination from today.
Students from Beldangi-I, II and extension are writing the examination in the exam centers allotted for them inside their respective camps while students from rest of the camps are bound to rush to nearby local exam centers.
Students numbering at least 201 out of 2051, who had filled the examination form for 2008-09, have already left camps under third country resettlement program.
According to the data provided to the BNS by Caritas – Nepal, a total of 12,159 (64 percent) students among 19,195 have successfully passed the ‘iron gate’ since the establishment of camps.
