| Posted: 07 Jan 2011 04:26 PM PST Bhutan’s Prime Minister and current Saarc chair Jigme Y Thinley reached Dhaka, Bangladesh on a four-day official visit on Monday. Thinley will be the first head of the government of Bhutan to visit Bangladesh after restoration of democratically elected government in Thimpu ending a long period of monarchy. "The visit is very important and significant for our bilateral relations…Bangladesh is very important to Bhutan," Bhutanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Bap Kesang told reporters. Thinley will lead a 20-member high-powered delegation that will include the health minister, cabinet secretary, foreign secretary and leading businessmen. He will hold summit talks with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday covering entire range of economic and political cooperation between the two neighbours. |
