| First batch for UK resettlement leaves camp Posted: 05 Aug 2010 07:11 PM PDT The first batch of Bhutanese refugees left camp for their resettlement in United Kingdom (UK) yesterday. A total of 37 Bhutanese from different camps in Nepal are at the transit centre of the International Organisation of Migration in Kathmandu waiting to fly for UK on August 9. With the acceptance of refugees from Bhutan for the first time, UK has become the eighth entity in the list of the core countries to resettle them. Only six months ago, England had announced its interest of resettling a total of 105 individuals although it has now changed its mind to accommodate up to 900. |
